Independent Study Courses and Exams

Independent Study Exams now require a FEMA Student Identification (SID) Number. If you do not yet have a SID, register for one today: https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid. Please do not contact the Independent Study program office as they are unable to provide assistance with these requests.

Spanish Language Courses

There are a limited number of IS courses that have been translated to the Spanish language. You can find the complete list of course in the Spanish language course list.

If you experience any problems with the new Spanish versions please contact the Contact the ISP Help Desk at (301) 447-1200 or Independent.Study@fema.dhs.gov for assistance. This includes issues with the exams.

Student Portal

If you experience difficulties accessing the Student Portal, please visit the FEMA SID website, login and check your profile for accuracy. If you are having trouble accessing your SID profile, contact the SID Help Desk.

If you notice discrepancies with your transcript, it is possible that you may have course completions listed under two separate SID numbers and can be remedied by merging SID accounts using the following process:

• First contact the SID Help Desk for assistance with merging SIDs into a single account.
• Contact the ISP Help Desk at (301) 447-1200 or Independent.Study@fema.dhs.gov for assistance with merging course completion data into a single student profile.

FEMA Student Identification (SID) Number

If you have forgotten your SID, go to the Retrieve Your FEMA SID web page to have your SID sent to your registered email address.

If you are having other issues with your SID account, please contact the SID Help Desk for assistance.
