This two-hour Independent Study course covers the lessons learned from the 2017 hurricane season, with the effort of improving post-disaster supply chain management to strengthen understanding of local supply chain dynamics; improve information-sharing and coordination among public and private stakeholders; and provide State, Local, Tribal and Territorial Emergency Managers with the knowledge of potential and experienced post-disaster supply chain disruptions, management efforts, and best practices.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain basic supply chain concepts and associated challenges
- Describe the basic components of a supply chain, common disruptions to supply chain flow, and ways to respond to them
- Describe concepts of the bottleneck and their impacts on supply chain management
- Describe the potential impacts of a disaster on supply chains
- Describe concepts of supply chain resilience before, during, and after a disruption.
