Course Overview
The goal of this training is to empower the deliberate planner or planning team member to add value to the planning process within their area of subject matter expertise.
Course Objectives:
- Describe the importance of deliberate emergency planning
- Describe the various types of plans, their structure, and the planning process
- Describe how to assemble a balanced and effective planning team
- Describe how to gain situational awareness as part of deliberate plan development
- Describe how to set goals and objectives for a deliberate plan
- Describe how to develop a deliberate plan
- Describe how to gain approval for a deliberate plan
- Describe how to implement and maintain a deliberate plan
- Identify the skills that planners utilize in the planning process
Primary Audience
- Emergency managers and emergency management planning staff from federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) offices
- Senior public safety or political appointees who desire to have a deeper understanding of emergency management planning
- Personnel serving in various emergency management disciplines (e.g., law enforcement, fire department, public works, and public health) who desire or require foundational training in emergency planning
