Course Description
ICS 100.PW, Introduction to the Incident Command System for Public Works, introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of ICS. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). This course uses the same objectives and content as other ICS courses with public works examples and exercises.
Note: IS-100.PWb is an updated version of the IS-100.PW course. If you have successfully completed IS-100.PW or 100.PWa, you may want to review the new version of the course. For credentialing purposes, the courses are equivalent.Course Objectives
At the completion of this course, you should be familiar with:
- ICS applications for public works
- ICS organizational principles and elements
- ICS position and responsibilities
- ICS facilities and functions
- ICS planning.
In addition, you will learn the steps you should take to be accountable for your actions during an incident.
Primary Audience
Public works personnel involved with emergency planning, response or recovery efforts.
Prerequisites
N/A. However, completion of IS 700A, National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction is recommended.
