NIMS ICS All-Hazards Position Specific Website

Welcome to the NIMS ICS All-Hazards Position Specific Training Program Website. This site is maintained by the Integrated Emergency Management (IEM) Branch of the Emergency Management Institute (EMI), which is a part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The site is intended for the use of those personnel, managers, and instructors who have direct involvement with the All-Hazards Position Specific Training Program. Users include: Regional Training Managers, State Training Officers, NIMS Training Coordinators, Incident Management Team members, Statewide Interoperability Coordinators, qualified Position Specific instructors, and other persons having direct involvement with the program.

The primary goal of the NIMS ICS All-Hazards Position Specific Training Program is to provide additional training that may be needed by personnel responsible for managing incidents of greater complexity than those typically encountered during routine operations. This training is designed to provide all-hazards competencies and behaviors for Command and General Staff and selected Unit Leader positions within a Type III and/or Type IV Incident Management Team (IMT) environment. Competencies in the training are focused around the ability of the student to assume specific position responsibilities, lead assigned personnel, communicate effectively, and to ensure the completion of assigned tasks in order to meet identified objectives for the position.

In order to maintain site control and integrity, some links have been password protected. All Regional Training Managers, State Training Officers, NIMS Training Coordinators, and Statewide Interoperability Coordinators have been provided with access to all sites and related links. Qualified instructors have been provided with access to those courses for which they are qualified to teach for downloading purposes, as well as to the Planning P video link.

Potential students interested in taking on-site or regional offerings of Position Specific courses or other courses at EMI must meet the selection criteria and prerequisites specified for each course. Participants may not take the same course more than once. EMI courses are generally limited to U.S. residents, however each year a limited number of international participants are accommodated in Emergency Management Institute courses. Please go to http://training.fema.gov/EMI/ for a complete listing of EMI courses, schedules, student selection criteria, and General Admissions Application Form 119-25-1 (formerly Form 75-5). Questions about site access or other issues relating to the Program should be referred to the Program Manager as noted below.
