Course Overview

This course provides an overview of Public Assistance as it relates to federally recognized Tribal governments when deciding to act as a Recipient. By the end of the course, participants will be able to explain the different processes and key administrative requirements a Tribe must undertake in its decision to apply for Public Assistance as a Recipient who manages (and may also apply as a Sub-recipient), or as a Sub-recipient who reports to a Recipient (State or Territorial government entity).

Participants will be able to identify the set of considerations that a Tribe must take into account when deciding to apply for Public Assistance as a Recipient or Sub-recipient.

Course Objectives:

  • Describe the process and considerations for deciding to manage FEMA’s Public Assistance Program as a Recipient.
  • Explain the general administrative requirements of Recipients to receive Public Assistance grant funding.
