Some things to consider when attempting to authenticate with your PIV Card

Preclusions (Verify using SID/Last Name Combination):

  • Non-FEMA employees do not authenticate with a PIV card.

Employee Checklist

  • If you are a non-deployed FEMA Reservist, read through this PIV FAQ, beginning with Requirements below. If problems still persist, you should contact the FEMA Workforce Development Division support desk at 855.377.3362 or FEMA-WDD-Program@fema.dhs.gov. Their hours of operation are Monday thru Friday, 9:00AM to 6:00PM, Eastern Time.
  • All deployed FEMA Reservists should use a FEMA–issued laptop or desktop and access required training through FEKC.
  • If you are a FEMA PFT employee, you must use the FEMA Employee Knowledge Center (FEKC) to take Independent Study training.
  • Your official training record is located in the FEKC. The FEKC does not communicate with this site, and therefore your official record will not be recorded from this site.
  • If you have trouble accessing the FEKC, you should contact the Human Captital Service Desk, 1-866-896-8003.

Requirements

  • FEMA Issued PIV Card
  • One of the following web browsers
    •  Microsoft Edge
    •  Firefox
    •  Internet Explorer 11 or greater. Note: Internet Explorer is no longer supported by Microsoft and may result in this site not functioning properly. Please consider upgrading to Microsoft Edge.
  • Primary email address in your SID Profile must be an @fema.dhs.gov or @associates.fema.dhs.gov account.
  • Must be using a FEMA issued computer while connected to the FEMA network via a blue cable or via the VPN, with your PIV Card inserted into the card reader slot.

Did you create your SID account before being required to associate it with your PIV card?

  • On the FEMA SID Login page, click on the Log in using your PIV card button to set up the association. Once you set up the association, you will only be able to log in to FEMA SID using your PIV card.
  • Once your PIV Card and SID are associated, please make sure that your @fema.dhs.gov or @associates.fema.dhs.gov email account is the Primary email address in your SID profile.

Registering for a SID

  • Make certain you do not have a SID account already.
    1. If you do, and you would like to log in with your PIV, you will need to change your Primary email address to your FEMA email address in your SID Profile here https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid/.
  • Visit https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid/ and click on the Register for a FEMA SID button.
  • When registering for your SID, use your @fema.dhs.gov or @associates.fema.dhs.gov email address as your Primary email address.
  • Follow any instructions for associating your PIV with your SID account.
