Course Description
This independent study course provides you with fundamental information on the disaster assistance process and disaster assistance programs.
Additionally, this course is used as a prerequisite to the FEMA State Coordinating Officer (SCO) course (E208). This course provides the base program knowledge, so that the SCO course can focus on management skills and issues for the SCO.
Course Objectives
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Develop pre-disaster plans for joint State and Federal disaster response and recovery operations.
- Produce accurate and complete declaration packages according to current requirements.
- Discuss Federal disaster assistance programs, listing the mission, management, and funding for each.
- Identify the disaster management partners needed to conduct a comprehensive emergency management program.
- Discuss the characteristics of a good, comprehensive emergency management partnership, including its establishment and maintenance.
Primary Audience
This independent study course is designed for FEMA state response partners.
Additionally, this course is used as a prerequisite to the FEMA State Coordinating Officer (SCO) course (E208).
