FEMA's National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, MD, is home of the Emergency Management Institute and the National Fire Academy. There, emergency managers, firefighters, and elected officials can take classes in many areas of emergency managment, including emergency planning, exercise design and evaluation disaster management, hazardous materials response and fire service management.

Independent Study Courses on disaster preparedness, disaster assistance, and hazardous materials are available for the general public from the Emergency Management Institute, at no cost. Special seminars, workshops, and broadcasts are offered at no cost via satellite as part of FEMA's Emergency Education Network, called EENET.

Contact your local Emergency Program Manager or State Emergency Management Agencies and Offices (Emergency Management) for more information about training courses at the National Emergency Training Center and in your local area.
