EMI GRAM #677 - Vacancies exist for B965 Fundamentals of HealthCare Emergency Management

Vacancies Exist for both Course Offerings

Course Information:  The Fundamentals of Healthcare Emergency Management course is designed for personnel who are responsible for development, implementation, maintenance and administration of emergency management plans for healthcare facilities/systems (hospitals, clinics, community health centers, etc.).  Functional areas addressed by this course include an overview of relevant standards, regulations and organizations; integration with agencies and stakeholders; ICS as it applies to healthcare; plans and the planning the process; facility and personnel preparedness; exercises and training; surge and related mass casualty issues (including patient care/ethics, evacuation, and public affairs/risk communications), recovery, and finances and reimbursement.

The following list of potential participants is a recommended pool of positions that would benefit from the training.  While everyone who may potentially fill these positions should be involved in the training, primary emphasis should be placed on healthcare facility/system personnel responsible for emergency planning and operations, and State and local emergency management staff responsible for development, implementation and coordination of community emergency response plans that include a health/medical interface.

  2. Healthcare administrators / executives / directors
  3. Safety/Security managers
  4. Nurses
  5. Physicians and Physician’s Assistants
  6. Other healthcare providers
  7. Material management personnel
  8. Information technology personnel
  9. Pharmacy personnel
  10. Public information officers
  11. Board members
  12. State and local emergency management personnel

There is no charge to the student for this training.  In addition FEMA will reimburse students for their travel expenses to the course based upon Student Stipend regulations. 

LocationNoble Training Center (NTC) in Anniston, Alabama.  Bus service is provided to NTC from the Atlanta-Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.  Buses depart from Atlanta on Sunday’s at 5:00 p.m. eastern time.  They return to Atlanta on Friday’s at 7:00 a.m. central time. 

Prerequisite:  Although not required, it is highly recommended that students complete the FEMA ICS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System which can be accessed on-line at http://training.fema.gov/emiweb/IS/crslist.asp.

Course Length:  Course starts Monday at 8:00 a.m. and ends Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
