Course Overview

This course provides an overview of the process of conducting research in training and education and documenting the analysis of the research in a paper. Topics in the course include the development of an issue or problem statement to be researched, process to conduct a literature review, types of research and data collection models, and formats for research papers.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply critical perspectives in order to understand training and education research.
  • Identify and describe the steps involved in conducting training and education research.
  • Locate and understand research publications relevant to specific topics.
  • Describe the formats used for reporting research findings.
  • Use job aids and resources to support development of a research-to-application paper.

Primary Audience

The audience for this course is managers assigned to positions that supervise and coordinate training and exercise programs. This course is not appropriate for entry-level training personnel.
