IS-100.FWa Intro to Incident Command System (ICS 100) for Federal Workers

Course Overview

This course provides Federal workers a familiarization with ICS principles, how they can be applied in incidents, and how to interface with response personnel.  The course has the same objectives as the IS-100.a course.  Additional content has been added to explain how the ICS principles apply to an incident that involves Federal assistance under the Stafford Act or National Response Framework. 

The overall course goal is to promote response partnerships by:

  • Familiarizing you with how ICS principles are used to manage incidents.
  • Preparing you to interface with other Federal agencies and with State, tribal, and local response partners.

Primary Audience

This course is designed for Federal workers involved with incident management preparedness, response, recovery, or mitigation efforts at the National Response Coordination Center (NRCC), the Regional Response Coordination Center (RRCC), and the Joint Field Office (JFO).

NIMS Compliance

This course is NIMS compliant and meets the NIMS Baseline Training requirements for IS-100.  It is equivalent to IS-100.a. 

IS-100 for Federal Workers follows the National Incident Management System (NIMS) guidelines.  To learn more about NIMS, you should complete IS-700.a, National Incident Management System, An Introduction.
